Why Choose Sunny Smile Dental for Dental Checkups and Teeth Cleanings?

Why Are Regular Dental Checkups & Cleanings Important?

There’s a common misconception that biannual dental checkups and teeth cleanings are optional, especially if you take good care of your smile at home. Even if that’s the case, tooth decay, gum disease, and other serious dental problems can develop under the radar. Not only that, but your routine exams increase the chances of oral cancer being caught in the early stages. For all of those reasons, it’s crucial that you come to our office every six months.

What to Expect During a Dental Checkup

Your dental checkup will be with our kind and experienced dentist, Dr. Sung-Hee Lee. After getting to know you (or catching up with you, if you’re a long-time patient), she will take a look at your teeth, your gums, and the soft tissue in your mouth. Then, she will share her findings, including anything that she noticed on your most recent X-rays. From there, she will discuss what steps need to be taken to keep or restore your healthy smile.

The dental cleaning usually takes up the majority of the visit. During this time, your dental hygienist will gently remove plaque and tartar that have built up. Along the way, they will share any tips they have for improving your at-home oral hygiene regimen, like spending more time brushing your molars. When they are done, they will floss and polish your teeth. Then, it will be time to go home!

Do you have any questions for us about your upcoming visit? If so, don’t hesitate to get in touch! We’d be happy to provide answers so your experience is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
